This pace-setting debut from Edinburgh based producer Gaffa is a full out onslaught of deep, sludgy bass and gut-wrenching breaks. Touching on everything from Dubstep and Jungle to Trance and lo-fi Trap, the release is littered with nods to a multitude of styles while adeptly avoiding the pit-falls of common tropes and cliches.

Gaffa's refusal to conform to the genres often strict use of tempo and structure is what really lifts the project, giving it the feeling of a woozy sped-up night on the sesh where literally anything can happen. Tracks like "Who's Gaff" and "Run That" ground the release in it's roots of Dubstep and Grime while "Lioness" and "Ground Zero" introduce elements of pummelling Breakcore and DnB. The vast soundscape of UK rave culture that is channeled through "The Gaffa Tape" is a truly impressive achievement, creating a bubbling cauldron of sonic dissonance fizzing with easter eggs and hidden gems.
